This is the OLYMPUS PEN concept

EE-2 was released in May 1968.

Improved version of Pen EE.
Hot shoe added, counter automatically restored.
The back cover removal system was discontinued.
It is now more practical and hinged.
The shutter speed is changed to 1/40 and 1/200 sec. in the middle of EE-2.

This page explains the disassembly procedure of the OLYMPUS PEN EE-2 with images.

This section will be divided into two major sections: disassembly of the top cover and disassembly after the top cover is removed.

Top cover disassembly

In disassembling the top cover, we will start by disassembling the rewinding crank.

Disassembly of rewinding crank

Open the film chamber.

Secure the rewind crank with a hard object such as the opposite side of a pair of tweezers.

Turn the take-up knob counterclockwise to take it off.

Remove the two screws under the take-up knob.

Remove one screw next to the top cover.

Pull the top cover up.

Be careful not to cut the wiring.

Disassembly after removing the top cover

The following is a description of the disassembly after the top cover is removed.

Remove the release button to avoid losing it.

Pull out the unwinding crank section.

Disassembling the viewfinder

Remove the black paper to clean the inside of the viewfinder.
Keep the black paper as it will be reused.

If the paper does not peel off, pour a small amount of anhydrous ethanol before removing.

Use a blower to completely blow out any dust, etc. that may have gotten into the viewfinder or into the gaps between the parts.

How to put back the black paper

After removing dust and mold from the viewfinder lens surface, apply a small amount of wood bond using a bamboo skewer and attach a piece of black paper.

Wipe off any protruding bond with an alcohol wet wipe.

Note on putting the top cover back on.

Return the part that holds the rewinding crank to its original position.

Attach the release button to the top cover.

Attach the top cover to the main body at an angle to prevent the release button from falling off.

Secure the top cover with three screws.

These are the disassembly procedures for the OLYMPUS PEN EE-2.
